Public Transportation in Kuala Lumpur

I always take RapidKL buses nowadays because it’s quite cheap(RM1-RM2 for a whole day riding on the same types of lines) and most of time under schedule in running(what I met).

But I think the happy time will be ended soon because the federal government just cancelled the allowances for RapidKL on fuel which means RapidKL will surely change their tariff. The reason from Cabinet is that government is not willing to make a monopoly on city bus service, however they think the allowance providing to RapidKL probably affects the matter because the company can give passangers cheaper tickets than other companies in the way to occupy the majority of the market.

I think if a company, especially a public service company,is able to do its business while benefiting most of citizens in the country, the company is successful enough and it’s well-performed.I admit that the monopoly will cause no competition and may lead to a bad situation that the only company in that cycle affecting the ‘whole world’ and control the absolute voice to ‘the world’.But the decision from the government is doing the same thing to their citizens.Soon we can never enjoy such a cheap trip by bus and I don’t think the competition here on public transportation is strong to force the invovling companies improving their services.

I think the government should not cut the allowance because the money paid to that company benefits consumers. Therefore, the government should better to set up a system to evaluate and assess the qulity of service of all public transportation companies whilst our consumers have our rights to take part in marking on them and finally depending on that result to contribute the allowance:only those high-voting companies can get the allowance.

Will it work?Ask your smart minister.

Since I’m still studying here,I only have some limited budgets to travel.Though I have stayed in Malaysia for more than 4 years,I only visited some cities here and haven’t got any trip to Singapore or Brunei during the time.

Therefore I hope I can know more local places from the book first so that I can have a map in my mind to plan for some 1-2 day trips on weekends.Of course,it’s after my exams.

You will get my plan later. :)

Today afternoon,I,together with my girlfriend’s younger cousin, went to BookFest again as I said before that I didn’t walk enough to have a complete visit last time.Well, this time I really get something I like. It’s a book. What is it?I just keep it in secret for some hours and tomorrow I will tell you.Now I feel tired and I have to take some time on my revision too.

When I went there yesterday,it was so crowded there. So we,a group of people, are only having a rough look on the books.

You need to bring your guide book to the redemption counter to get your paper band for entrance.Once entering into the gate, you will most probably be in English Book Zone.If you want to go to Chinese Book Zone directly, just turn left and go straight and you will see this view soon.

I think you’d better to have a list before you go there if you really want to get some books.Otherwise it spends you a lot of time on searching and let you tired soon.

By the way, books are not the only thing in this BookFest. Many CDs/DVDs are selling at a cheap price. It’s really recommended.Ok,wish you get your favorite there.
