[UPDATE]New Policy on applying Singapore visa in Malaysia

According to the announcement from Singapore High Commission in Malaysia, from 15th Dec.,2008,all visa applications will be outsourced and start to implement the Submission of Application for Visa Electronically(SAVE) and the High Commission will stop dealing with visa applications directly.

SAVE

There are four official appointed travel agencies for processing the visa application:

  • Global Holidays Sdn Bhd, 2nd Floor Wisma Cosway, Jalan Raja Chulan
  • Look Asia Holidays Malaysia, Menara Melawangi, Pusat Perdagangan Amcorp, Jalan Persiaran Amcorp
  • MP Travel, Jalan Imbi
  • Singapore Visa Application Centre, VFS (M’sia) Sdn Bhd, Amoda Building, Jalan Imbi

The charges of applying visa are as follows:

  • Non-refundable visa processing fee RM71(US$20)
  • service fee RM29(US$8)

I hope with implementation of SAVE,the processing period could be shorten and facilitate the application. For me,the benefits of new policy are:

  1. Get transport easier-I could reach one of the agency by bus directly. No need to get a long travel by LRT+walk to visit the High Commission in KL.
  2. Save time-I only need to submit documents to the agency and it will help me to do the rest of workings.
  3. Less time limitation-previously the High Commission only processes visa application in the morning, but now it could be done during all official hours(normally 9am-5pm).

Thus,it seems to be a hassle-free policy, huh?I will try it next time when I have enough funds travelling to Singapore.

[UPDATE]

Normally it will take about 4 working days, however it could be varied with different cases. You'd better to ask for the officer in the visa application center. They might have a more accurate answer for you.

PS: last time i cam to KL then i applyed for Singaproe visa from JB, so if i leave , i have to go back to JB

Sorry that I'm not the expert on it.But as what I know, you should have the invitation letter from your potential employer first and their HR department will let you know how to process the rest.

Most of companies will do it for you if they want to hire you, especially for those big companies where their HR department will submit the application for a foreign employee and follow up to complete it.So the most important thing is,to have an employer first.

If you are still in your home country,I suggest you to apply Singapore visa by local travel agents or visit the consular’s office. That would be better than applying it online or in other coutry as th application normally will take 4-7 working days to process.

I plan to travel to Malaysia and Singapore. I am applying for both visas. However, i wish to do it combination of Mumbai – Kuala Lumpur – Singapore – Mumbai. I hope my visa application will not be rejected since I will be first travelling to Kuala Lumpur on flight from Mumbai to KL and then by flight from KL to S’pore and then by fligth from S’pore to Mumbai. Hope this is an acceptable request. Flights and stay will be booked accordingly.

Normally if you’ve prepared all necessary documents to apply the visas, the officers will go through the procedures and issue the visas to you in the estimated time.

I was rejected a visa to singapore today, I am from Nigeria working as Software Engineer in Malaysia, I called the High Commission and he asking me to provide information of any relative at Singapore which i don’t have the whole thing spoiling my day…Is there any headway to reply he told me to appeal what is the process of this appeal

    Reply
    1. Zhang

From my limited knowledge, the appeal will take a lot of time and most of the answers after appeal were negative again. So you’d better to know the reason why they rejected the application and then apply again with some more documents to support. At this point,I think you should have a further conversation with the officer in the high commission,to know what you can do now.

Thanks for your Response..It is not really important but i just feel very bad about it…I must call the High commission again like you said but it seems like the don’t even have any way to track your information..for carrying out loud it is not fare to reject my application this is the first time i will be rejected a Visa into any Country…he could have even call my company to confirm..do you know if the will entertain any discussion with me at the embassy in KL.

Do you mind telling me how you submit your application?Through normal travel agency or the authorised one?I know that feeling, however,I don’t think they will hold a discussion at the embassy as it’s just one of thousands cases.Sometimes, even a not-so-clear form will let you fail to get the visa.So try to talk with the officer inside will just be good.I heard a case that the people just changed a new agency to submit the docs again and it passed.

As what I know, you still could get your short term visa if you haven’t broken any law in Singapore, however, the final decision is in the officer’s hand.Good luck and wish you could get all things smoothly.

Ok.. I used Global Holiday Authorized agency, Normally my company offer 15day annual leave I’m just planning to use my Leave entitlement cos i cannot carry it over to next year..I want to be sure they have not rejected my Visa as reason of been biased of my Nationality, I wouldn’t mind to write an Agenda letter to my High commission in Singapore, I have a family in Malaysia my wife and Kids which was mentioned in the form..I will try my best to know the reason like you suggested..Thanks again for your time…your blog is interesting..

Thank you.Remembered the cased I just mentioned, that person failed the application submitted by Global Holiday, but passed when being submitted by Singapore Visa Application Centre. If you don’t mind spending some more money, you could try it again.Normally, the officer will not process the application with bias, but they have some sort of guildlines(formed by the past experience) for different nations, maybe a bit stricter than others.Anyway, good luck!

Even now you have married permit to stay in Malaysia, you still have to apply working permit of Singapore following the standard procudures for Pakistani. You should get some information from High Commission of Singapore in KL.Good luck!

      Reply
    1. Zhang Bin

Definitely no.FYI,some documents for applying working permit in most countries should be provided by the future employer. So you have to find some potential employer there first and then apply your permit. You could search jobs in jobdb or jobstreet website.

      Reply
    1. Zhang Bin

The first thing you need to do is to find a job offer from Singapore company.Without it,you could not apply working permit there legally. You could either try to find it by online job seeking websites or pay a visit to Singapore with a travel visa and get some interviews directly there.Hopefully my suggestion could help!
