A rough test of Windows 7 beta 1

Yesterday I said I got some sources to download the leaked Windows 7 beta 1.I’d downloaded it successfully today and so could try it immediately.

As it’s a ISO file,I had to burn it into a DVD and then started my installation.

loading files from DVD.The procedures of installation are quite similar with the earlier versions of Windows(XP,Vista etc).

This thumbnail function has been in Windows  Vista, but it shows bigger and clearer here.

CPU and memory usage

In idle time,CPU consumption is very low.On the other hand,it occupies 38%(more than 700M physical memory) of total RAM(2GB).However,the system runs smoother than Windows Vista. No delay on actions could be noticeable.

my laptop information ranking the overall performance

Till now I had used it for about 1 hour.I installed an antivirus software, surfed internet for a while and updated some drivers of hardware. This is the first beta of Windows 7,therefore I won’t expect too much on it.However,I found only the audio driver can not be supported at the moment. So I think the overall performance is quite good, especially compared with the beta version of Windows Vista.

PS:Only Kaspersky and AVG are providing beta antivirus software currently.
