If you stick on news every day,you should have some news of HSBB(High Speed Broadband) today.
Telekom Malaysia Bhd today held a briefing regarding to HSBB at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. The main points of this briefing are:
- The wholesale transmission services(a part of HSBB project) will be launched by the second quarter of this year. However, the wholesale service is only for licence-holders who want back-haul connectivity, thus the need to spell out the terms and conditions of access so that potential users can start making submissions on how much capacity they need from the HSBB.
- The building of the network in some areas is under way as contracts have been dished out to Huawei and a unit of Juniper. The building of the HSBB involves TM putting in new fibre components in parts of its core network so that it is IP (Internet protocol)-enabled.
- Under the HSBB project, TM is turning its entire core network to be IP-enabled as well as putting up FTTH, a shift from the copper lines used now.
- For retail users, it is learnt that some trials are under way in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Subang Jaya, but the commercial rollout of HSBB services to consumers in select areas will only be in the fourth quarter of this year.
So we still have long time to wait and till now we can’t get any information of the charges of HSBB for retail service yet.I hope I could retrieve the related details as soon as possible. Will it surprise me?Better not.
