In Malaysia, mainly TM Net Streamyx is the prioritised broadband service as it’s ADSL so that where there is a fixed phone line, there could have ADSL theoretically. However,Streamyx fulfilled ‘BEST EFFORT POLICY’ which said that if the actual speed could reach at least 70% of which subscribed, that deemed to have been satisfied with that service. But according to the related article from MCMC(Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Committee),the quality of service is requested to a high level.
That means if you subscribed a 1M Streamyx(1Mbps for downlink,384Kbps for uplink),according to that article, you should at least get 921.6Kbps(115.2KBytes/second) for downlink and 345.6kbps(43.2KBytes/second) for upload in 95% of the time.
If you could not get that speed, you already have enough reason to make a report to TM Net,asking them to trace out the problem and to do any possible work in order to help you achieve the speed that you should get.
Frankly speaking,I can’t get that reasonable speed before I made a report to them on last Friday. In the morning of the next day(Saturday),a technician called me that he could raise the port speed for me in next working day(Monday) and that should improve the line speed.
Yesterday afternoon(Monday),the technician called me again and informed me that he just reconfigured the port for me.So I checked in the ADSL modem immediately and here’s the figures:
The port is set at 3Mbps.As you know,TM Net uses both the DSLAM port speed and the account speed capping the actual speed you can have. Thus,I’m subscribing 2Mbps plan and I could only get at most 2Mbps as my account is capped.
Before the change,I could get 1600-1700Kbps consistently; After the change,I could get 1750-1850Kbps stably.
Whatever the improvement is huge or slight,at least I know that the technician did his best effort regarding with my issue and I do see the change.
So guys,if you want to get a better speed, just write an email to [email protected] and be patient with it.I hope it could be done with your satisfaction. ![]()

Thank you for the birthday wishes
Oopss…Shame…I think I' d been late on it…And it's my pleasure.
I use this program and its basically a connections manager that tweaks a few things and speeds up your overall speed. You can download it here its free: http://www.cybawarez.com/dsl-speed-4-6-t4713.html.
Well,I may try it later. Thanks indeed.
