YouTube had called for professionals and amateur musicians of all ages, locations and instruments to audition for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra by submitting a video performance of a new piece written for the occasion by the renowned Chinese composer Tan Dun.Winners had been selected over the list in the last March and invited to travel to New York in April 2009, to participate in the YouTube Symphony Orchestra summit, and play at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas.

However,all the Tan Dun submissions will be compiled into a mash-up video in YouTube.I have to say that piece of symphony is amazing and the strain is very keyed-up and inspiring.As it combines the effort from a large group of people who live in different countries with different cultures,it goes to be more meaningful.Thus,I don’t think you could miss this.

The most hot hall was promoting broadband service.As I mentioned in the last post that P1 Wimax just launched their tiny portable device-WIGGY yesterday,they did the promotional event magnificently and pushed other ISPs joining the battle.I felt that I was really in a forest.Actually those promoters insect in every corner and I hope you could escape from their hunting.

I met Mr. Yap in that hall who is the general manager of SyQic Capital,which works out Hypp.TV together with TM.He told me that he is doing his best to improve the quality of contents and is arranging to increase the numbers of channels from 30 to 50 by the end of this year.I appreciate to get his mid-long term plan and I think Hypp.TV could be an alternative option to Astro too if keeping on the track.

Mr. Yap also told me that the current monthly fee is RM9.90 without contract.People can try the service first for one month and then decide to renew it or reject it.More flexible packages will be on the market soon and at that time,Hypp.TV will be more productive and attractive.I’m willing to see the development.

In the running and upcoming PC fair,P1 Wimax will sell the device with the following plan.

Do you mention that it provides up to 10Mbps for downlink?I think this is the fastest wireless broadband service in Malaysia currently and pays only RM149 per month.However,P1 Wimax still sets bandwidth limits for this package at 10GB monthly and frankly speaking,it burns my idea to try it.

My conclusion is this plan is for those young guys who may like surfing Internet all the time,but slightly downloading.

Anyway,I like to see those new stuff coming as more competitions between service providers will bring more benefits to consumers.

PS:I just came back from PIKOM PC fair in KL Convention Center and I saw the official launch and promotion there.I get some official source telling me that WIGGY,the modem itself is said to be capable of 20Mbps for downlink,but normally it could run at 5Mbps on average and once if you reach that 10GB cap,your speed will be locked at 400kbps (down) and 150kbps (up) respectively.

A bad story I had is one showgirl of P1 Wimax introduced this new product to me and said to me that Wimax never has any long latency issues as other wireless broadband such as HSPA and upon reaching the limits of 10GB,the speed would only be slightly moved to 4.8Mbps(down).I didn’t record her name and didn’t want to blame her either.However,we know that is a kind of misleading and hard sell.P1 Wimax,you have to train your employees to know all basic knowledge of your product.Otherwise,your brand will lose trust from consumers.

Therefore,AirAsia believes that a new and advanced LCCT(low cost carrier terminal) is necessary to fit the future life of the company as the current LCCT(owned by Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd) which is close to KLIA(Kuala Lumpur International Airport) can’t provide more parking lots for new aircrafts(2 new aircrafts every month) and afford higher volume of passengers in the foreseen future-estimated to have 60 million in 2013.

AirAsia calls the KLIA-East project as a matter of life-or-death and now it has closely worked with Sime Darby Bhd.Meanwhile,the project has been approved by the government and so it will start construction as soon as the complete plan and design rolling out,as it be scheduling to be in operation in early 2011.

AirAsia also calls the KLIA-East project as a terminal for people so that The Rakyat’s Terminal.The terminal is promised to give its users much more comfortable environment that current one.Some friendly and convenient facilities are under plans too,such as the linkage of KTM,ERL and automatic trains(Aerotrain) in KLIA.Although it will be located in Labu,Negeri Sembilan,in fact it will be 18KM closer to Kuala Lumpur city centre than current LCCT.

The most important thing is,AirAsia will have its real control on the terminal and so a right to reduce the costs and thus give customers much lower fares.

For me,I’m quite interested in Windows 7 beta.As I said before,Windows7 beta 1 had been leaked out several weeks ago and actually I had installed it and been testing on it.Because it hadn’t been released officially,it still has no way to activate it.However,in CES 2009 Steve Ballmer revealed that Windows 7 beta will open to public for test purpose from January 9 2009.That means Windows 7 will start the way of running to maturity.And perhaps it will come into the market asap in order to reoccupy consumer’s confidences from the failure of releasing Windows Vista.Stay tuned!

This result was tested on a nearest local server.It could be treated to be a rough reference. 

Those two results were tested to the servers in China.It was considered to be fair performances.

These two were tested on the servers in UK and US.The congestions may be caused by the reroutes from the other affected areas by the incident and so leads to high ping and lower speeds.

Egypt is influenced hugely by the incident.The above one was tested on the server there.The snaillike speed and high latency have shown the issue clearly.

It’s only the thing happened in Mediterranean sea,but impacting on almost all countries.Thus,this current incident may just describe that Internet makes the world smaller in an abnormal way.Of course,I think it also tells those Telecom giants that investments are strongly needed in order to build up more ‘broad roads’ to eliminate or relieve some congestions.

I believe that most netizens are looking forward to a faster Internet service,so do I.Hopefully the repairs could be done the sooner the better.
