TM Said HSBB will come out on March 24

Several days ago,TM held a press conference and over there it claimed that High Speed Broandband(HSBB) will release to the public on March 24 at Dataran Merdeka.Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Najib Tun Razak will join in the event and officially launch the National Broadband initiative, which HSBB is the flagship project.    -Sourced by Bernama

I think that will be impressive as the new HSBB will run at least 3 times faster than the current fastest plan to the consumers.TM also promised that this time the plans will not be as expensive as the existing plans.

I know that some people living in Subang Jaya,Shah Alam,Taman Tun and TTDI have already been selected as beta users to try out the service and based on some leaking news, the result is quite good.

The known information shows that the plans will include some value added services, such as IPTV.Well,I’m very interested in the new service.I hope the service could reach my living area as soon as possible.Meanwhile,I welcome the HSBB users to leave some feedback here. :)

  • Click Login
  • Enter your existing Maybank2u.com Username and Password.
  • You are now logged in to perform your banking transactions!
  • Some services could be done by the mobile portal:

    • Account Summary
      • Balance Inquiry (Savings, Current, Credit/Debit Card)
      • M2U History, Recent Transaction, Today’s Transactions, Transaction History (Deposit, Credit/Debit Card)
    • Funds Transfer
      • To Own Accounts
      • To Registered 3rd Party Accounts
      • To Registered Interbank GIRO
    • Payments
      • Registered Bill Payment
      • Card Payment (Own)
      • Card Payment (Registered 3rd Party Accounts)
    • View Rates
      • View Forex & Deposit Rates

Well, the service is still under beta stage and so the facilities are quite limited.I think it could be enhanced once it goes through more tests and gets more feedbacks.I wonder which bank will be the next one that will introduce mobile portal to be closer to an e-world.

    Google Public DNS

Google throws out a new stuff to the public-Google Public DNS.Somebody may not know what DNS exactly is.Here’s the simple explanation:

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the participants. Most importantly, it translates domain names meaningful to humans into the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices worldwide. An often used analogy to explain the Domain Name System is that it serves as the "phone book" for the Internet by translating human-friendly computer hostnames into IP addresses. For example, www.example.com translates to 208.77.188.166.(Wikipedia)

In the real world, every website/server will have an IP address. However,in order to easily access the site,we normally type in the domain name to visit it and the domain name server will translate it into that specific IP address. After all,we could get what we want to get.

Many ISPs will always provide some DNS service to their customers, even automatically configured. However,Google Public DNS could give more compared to other DNS service:

Google has a broader network all over the world. Thus,it will direct you the closest DNS server once you set Google Public DNS as your priority DNS.

    To try it out:

    • Configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers or
    • Read our configuration instructions.

I previously tried OpenDNS for some while. It is also an independent service provider with quite a lot of credits from the clients. But the DNS servers are mostly located in Europe and America, the users in Asia would have delay because of the geographic conditions.Google eliminates the issue since it has several DNS servers in Asia.

I have used Google Public DNS for 3 days.It works as well as what it says.I’m so happy to see that we are having more alternatives.Thumb up!
