New Google Maps starting to run for some users

New Google Maps was introduced one day ago during Google I/O 2013 keynote.It’s redesigned to be simple,clean with rich information.Applying the latest WebGL technology,the new Google Maps runs very smoothly in Chrome browser.

I requested to have a try on the latest Google Maps and luckily I’ve been in first group of people to try it right away.

Google Maps has been most interactive maps in the world.You could simply click on anything on the map and it will extract every helpful information to you.

Google Maps also allows you to discover undersea or the universe with Earth view.You could even use the 3D mode to ‘visit’ some places that you wanna be. Continue reading →

Free seats from AirAsia again

Every year,AirAsia-the largest low cost carrier in Asia promotes the routes by offering free seats.The offer is on currently for AirAsia Big Members to redeem the free seats with 0 point and will open to the public from midnight on 15 Jan 2013.

 

 

If you’re the Big member,you could just simply click on the above picture to direct to the redeem page.However,as what AirAsia said,the website is under huge pressures with very active response and you may have to try thousands of times to load the page correctly.

Don’t be too sad if you can’t redeem your free seats from the member-only promotion.We still have another chance to get the free seats in the upcoming promo too.Well,it ought to be a tough battle to get those seats,but it’s still worth trying.

FYI,the free seats are for travelling between 20 August 2013 to 9 February 2014.If you wanna get one,you’d better to make sure that you’re still awake after midnight.

AirAsia opens direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai & vice versa

Days ago,Regional Head of  Commercial for AirAsia Group,Kathleen Tan implied in her Weibo saying ‘Hello Shanghai,I’m coming’ and in today’s official Weibo of AirAsia,it confirms the new route as well as the discounted price structure.

The promotion sales will start from midnight today and the lowest return tickets are only RMB951/RM467/USD153 per pax including all taxes and other charges for travelling from 19 February 2013 to 30 September 2013.

AirAsia X,the long-haul service under AirAsia Group,has flied to 12 cities in China.According to the latest talk from Tony Fernandes,the founder and group CEO of AirAsia,he will keep focusing on ASEAN coutries as they have great foundation of population as well as great potentials.China is one of the most active counties in this region and tons of opportunities are over there.Thus,AirAsia X will be looking for more destinations in China in the near future,benefiting from the boosts of the economy.

Honestly,I’ve waited for the day coming for years.Because my hometown is in Shanghai and so I have to be back there several times every year.Previously,in order to cut the cost,I always took AirAsia X flights to Hangzhou and then transit to Shanghai by other vehicles.It had to spend twice of the time and it’s really exhausting.Well,that day ends now.

Nokia Here on iOS

Nokia Here is a navigation app originally designed on Windows Phone,however,Nokia now has decided to expand it into iOS and Android free of charge.I believe a lot of iOS device users will definitely like it because Apple maps is still quite lousy in a number of places.

Nokia Here supports both iPhone and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later.The map is based on well-known NAVTEQ’s resources.It also supports community map in some countries so that users could add missing information by their own,updating the maps faster and more accurate.

Upon my personal experience,I found Waze actually has more complete road information in Malaysia.Anyway,as Nokia Here is just born,it supposes to grow to be better in the coming future.

The Android version of Nokia Here is still under developing.I hope once it covers all major mobile platforms with more users,the map can become a strong competitor to Waze.

AirAsia will start to fly to Beijing soon

AirAsia has talked to get a landing pass to the capital of China,Beijing,for long time,finally it will come true.AirAsia recently annouced that the new route to Beijing will get into business  and the first flight will be on 22 June 2012.To celebrate the great move,AirAsia offers a great discount for the airfare to Beijing.Here are the details:

From 22 June 2012 to 5 August 2012,AirAsia’s long haul service-AirAsia X will fly 4 times a week and it will increase to 7 times a week from 6 August 2012.

From the latest conversation with Mr. Azran Osman-CEO of AirAsia X,the direct flight to Shanghai by AirAsia X is also under negotiation with Chinese government.I just hope that could be done asap.

AirAsia Big Sales

Every year,AirAsia opens up several big sales to promote the routes.People always wants to fly as well as getting some bargains and so the big sales are really quite attractive.

The latest big sales are on.The booking period is from 16 May 2012 to 20 May 2012 and it’s for travels from 4 January 2013 to 22 May 2013.

AirAsia’s long haul service-AirAsia X holds the big sales for the same period of travelling.

I think the low-fare tickets will run out very fast as the travel period covers Chinese new year and International Labor Day when many people have holidays.Try your luck if you still want to have an economical but remarkable trip!

Google Maps Turns on Traffic and Transit for Malaysia

At the moment,I only see that ‘traffic’ layer is available now in Google Maps Malaysia,but the feature of ‘transit’ layer is still in grey.

It is weird because the official Google Malaysia twitter account announced the good news that both have been available in Malaysia,but it turns out another result.

Maybe there’s some small technical glitch.Well,wait to see whether the features will go online later.

The traffic layer is showing the live information and transit layer will show all public transport options,all could help us plan our daily routes.It’s just great!
