U Mobile adds UMI 38 Plan with Free Messaging

U Mobile today introduces new unlimited Internet prepaid plan UMI 38 with 500MB high-speed quota,200 minutes talking time and 30 sms for 30 days.It’s said to be the best balanced plan and should fit most people’s daily use.

Well,U Mobile also informed that a new service called ‘Free Messaging’ is available to all UMI 28, UMI 38 and UMI 48 subscribers. ‘Free Messaging’ service is based on the partnership with two popular mobile apps – Kakao Talk and WeChat. It allows KaKao Talk and WeChat users freely chat with friends,send photos or any other in-app features without reducing your data quota.Is that awesome?


U Mobile is very smart.As they are one of the smallest mobile service providers in Malaysia.They are really hard to compete against the giants such as Maxis/Celcom. The best way to attract more customers is to know the trend and produce innovative services .I think now they are on the right track.

U Mobile expands 3G network in East Malaysia

Months ago,U Mobile started to share with Maxis for its infrastructure in order to expand its 3G network to nationwide.Since then,the 3G coverage on U Mobile in West Malaysia came to be good.Well,recently it started the expansion in East Malaysia and the major cities and towns there had 3G service already.

The areas having 3G service are Kuching,Sibu,Bintulu,Miri.Labuan,Kota Kinabalu,Sandakan and Tawau.You can check the details of it coverage here


U Mobile’s 3G network supports up to 42Mbps DC-HSPA+ .The collaboration with Maxis will let U Mobile expand faster and save more capital.I believe it will also benefit on deploying 4G LTE network which U Mobile maybe will start the service in the year.

Anyway,as a user of U Mobile,I feel some service downgrade in terms of speed and downtime.I hope they could improve the service continuously with the growth of the number of users and don’t let me down.

Samsung Galaxy S3 starts to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Yesterday,some dozens of Samsung Galaxy S3 users in Poland reported that they started to receive OTA about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.

A few hours after this news came out,Samsung officially listed out the first batch of Android phones which could get Jelly Bean.

Closer look at Apple WWDC

It happened last night.I’m sure that many Apple fans and tech gurus were watching the live updates from some famous IT websites.In case that you haven’t known what they disclosed in this event,just share with you guys the latest updates.

Hardware upgrades are the main part of this Apple event,another two are OSX and iOS.

1.MacBook

Apple released an upgraded line of MacBook products.Both MacBook and MacBook Air are upgraded to the latest Intel Ivy Bridge processor,capable to USB 3.0,up to 512GB SSD. Besides this,Apple also released a new generation of MacBook Air which fits the most of rumors-15.4 inch display with 2880*1800(retina display),Kepler GT650M video card,up to 768GB SSD,2 USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports,7-hour battery time with lighter weight and slimmer body.

Apple has started to delivered the new products from today.

2.OSX Mountain Lion

  • Reminders and Messages will be integrated with iCloud
  • Alerts service
  • Dictation-a kind of voice input and control function,but not the same as Siri
  • New Safari-combined URL and search bar;sync history and bookmarks between devices
  • Auto update and Sync in Saving mode;Auto backup when charging
  • Game Center
  • Dedicated to China market:New language inputs,new dictionary,8 new fonts,support Baidu,Tudou,Youku and popular SNS websites
  • This new version of OSX-Mountain Lion will be released in next month at US$19.99,the existing users of Snow Leopard and other latter versions could upgrade to the latest one.

3.iOS 6

It’s said to have more than 200 new features in iOS 6.The key points for me are:

  • New Apple Maps with details of traffic,accident etc;3D map and show the estimated arrival time depending on the real traffic info;Siri functional
  • Siri will have more enhanced search ability;supports more languages including Mandarin and Cantonese;It will work on new iPad
  • Facebook integration
  • Facetime by cellular network
  • Safari will support offline reading;add full screen option when portrait handling
  • New app:Passbook-integrates all digital IDs together
  • Customized to China market :Tudou,Youku,Sina Weibo etc
  • Do-Not-Disturb setting
  • The new iOS will be available in the coming fall.

Facebook officially has App Center now

Facebook wants to enter to this market for a long time and now it’s starting to directly compete with Google Play Store and Apple iTunes Store.

Up to now,I can’t find the hyperlink to App Center on the front page.So the only way to visit the site is type in facebook.com/appcenter .Here’s what it looks like:

Some apps are working on desktop and others could be working on mobile.However,most of them are overlapping the apps in Google Play Store and Apple iTunes Store and so I feel nothing special at all.

Newly designed Foursquare is coming

Foursquare has been born for 3 years and it does attract a lot of people to use it,most of them have made it be a part of daily life.It’s really a useful and successful app,now it’s gonna be better.

Foursquare just released an update for both iOS and Android with newly designed UI and interesting features.

Is that nice?Just update your app in your smartphone.The Blackberry version will be released in coming weeks.

WordPress 3.2 is here

After months of testing and fixing,WordPress 3.2 comes officially.It’s said to make it faster and lighter.

Inside the new version,a refreshed dashboard design is created.I feel it is much clearer than the old one and loads faster as they declared.They also create a new official theme-new Twenty Eleven theme which is fully coded by HTML5 as they promised before that they would design a new theme every year.

The best part in this latest WordPress is the freshest full screen editor.

It’s left nothing but my editing windows,they call it as distraction-free writing or zen mode.

More improvements and bug fixes in this build give users better experience.WordPress takes a 3-minutes video clip to show us how it could work fantastically.

After watching this,I bet you wanna upgrade your blog platform to this awesome one.

Oh,they also said that more good stuff will be available in next batch,WordPress 3.3.You’ll stay tuned,won’t you?
