Nexus 4,Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 get released

Because of Hurricane Sandy,Google cancelled the event to officially release Nexus 4,the new flagship Android phone in Nexus series;Nexus 7,with lower prices and bigger storage;Nexus 10,the 10 inch Android tablet with the latest functions and powerful hardware. However, all have been pushed into Google Play Store online.

Nexus 4 is the smallest one among all new products, however,it has a powerful heart. This flagship Android phone is built by LG,working with the latest 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor and 2GB RAM.

The 4.7 inch 1280X768(320ppi) display screen is really amazing. It’s tough as it is covered and protected by scratch resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass 2.

The 8MP camera will never let you lose a scene. It now supports 360° panoramas with the new feature in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean called ‘Photo Sphere’.

After all,the most amazing thing is about the price-8GB version selling at US$299 while 16GB version selling at US$349.I think that is really a bargain as It even supports DC-HSPA+(42Mbps).

Tomato 1.25

I applied Tomato firmware since I started to use Linksys WRT54GL.It is customized from the original firmware and designed to be more functional and stable.

Router List The latest version Tomato 1.25 was released several days ago.It fixed one major problem on the previous Tomato 1.24.The changes since Tomato 1.23 are:

Version 1.25

  • Fixed WL MAC address may not be set properly. This seems to have caused various connectivity problems, including a possibility of getting locked out.

Version 1.24

  • Fixed static IP entry was ignored if it exceeded a certain length even though the GUI allowed it.
  • Fixed Device List may not display Static IP hostnames.
  • miniupnpd replaces the older UPnP service, adds NAT-PMP support (must enable).
  • Added options for DDNS refresh time and do not perform an ‘NVRAM commit’ for DynDNS in the GUI.
  • Added ID for WTR54GS, WZR-G108 – thanks to BaoWeiQuan; WR100 – thanks to Hovsep.
  • Various fixes, WL500GP, WL520GU, WBR2G54 – thanks to Fedor.
  • Added options for more SSH/telnet connect limits in Admin:Access.
  • Added option to use WAN port for LAN in Basic:network.
  • Reworked logout. Tested with IE, FF, Safari, Opera, Chrome.
  • Updated Busybox 1.14.0, Dnsmasq 2.47, L7 filters 20090510.
  • etc.

If you have a proper model of router, just try to install this firmware on and I’m sure that you’ll definitely like it later.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is in town

The netbook era was just started in 2007,but fast growth in 2008.A lot of PC giants were joined in the war and released quite many series of products, such as Asus Eee PC and Acer Aspire One,both of which are very successful on sales in a declining market. As one of the top PC manufacturers,Dell will never give up any game and so ‘Inspiron Mini’ is the product line to compete with others. Two months ago,I found the shade of Inspiron Mini 9 which was introduced by Maxis, selling as a package with its 3G broadband package. Now Dell has open the door for the retail market of ‘Inspiron Mini’ Series and the first product is Inspiron Mini 12.

Inspiron Mini 12 is in townMost of netbooks are having a 10 inch screen at most. However,Inspiron Mini 12 has a 12.1 inch TrueLife TFT Display.Surely it could provide a sharp view and a wider display area.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 gallery Though it is leveled as a netbook,I think it has been listed as a high-end product in the current category. Thus, through the above picture, we could figure out that Inspiron Mini 12 has a very slim and light body-less than 1.1" thick and under 1.236 kg;besides,a next-to-full-size keyboard provides a more comfortable typing experience;the standard 3 cell battery is able to run the netbook for approx. 3 hours under a normal use(Eg. online chat, word processing etc). Additionally, except the internal 80G PATA 4200RPM hard disk,Dell also gives their customers 2GB online storage on Box.net which may enhance your online share experience too.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 specificationSome disappointments are:

  1. Intel Atom Processor,1G 533Mhz DDR2 SDRAM,a 80G 4200RPM PATA Hard Drive work on Windows Vista Home Basic with an Intel integrated graphic card.I could imagine the congestions happening while startup, watching HD clips or editing photos.Of course,it won’t bother you if you’re only use it surfing Internet.
  2. Less Customizations.Only the option for hardware maintenance is available currently. That means temporarily potential customers are only able to get the same color(Alpine White) units. It seems to be no DIY things on this item.
  3. None of 6-cell extended long-life battery could be picked up.Well,I did see the introduction for the performance of the 6-cell battery.but it’s so weird that it hasn’t been an option.

Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is tagged at RM2199(USD638) with the standard options(with one year hardware warranty). If the price could drop another RM100 or even more,Dell will probably gain a bigger part of the cake because the same level product-Asus Eee PC 1000(10 inch screen) is officially tagged at RM2099(USD609) in these days.

So I’m now just waiting for Dell to do some improvements to erase my disappointments.

Asus Eee PC is coming

I think Asus Eee PC‘s release is a very good news for those young people who need a pretty PC to do some normal things like surfing Internet or edit some files. There are 3 models:2G surf,4G and 8G with different specifications. Now it has been officially released in Malaysia, though at the beginning stage only 4G model is sold at RM1499(you can be an early bird in order to get RM200 discount.)

But the sources said that other models will be available within 2-3 weeks.
