A brief review on design of Ubuntu 8.04 Beta

I had introduced Ubuntu 8.04 Beta in last week.As I am just a beginner of using Ubuntu, there are points I need to learn. So in the past several days I spent most of time on trying and testing it.I find that Ubuntu builds a simple but beautiful design for the whole system.I did some screen shots and now share with you.

Ubuntu 8.04 beta

In these two days,I spent a lot of time on Ubuntu 8.04 beta.It seems to be a strange name to those people who are not dipping into IT.But it is really being more and more famous in Linux world as it is free to use and developing on a fast track. The beta version gives me another ‘hope’ to try(I tried to install 7.10 several months ago,but failed).

Ubuntu 8.04 beta

Well,I took my time to know the points which I need to concern during the installation. And because Ubuntu is Linux-based operating system,it has many differences to Windows-Eg.I need to use ext3 format to install system, text mode on setup and so on which are not easy to me either.

Finally I run it successfully after plenty of loses.A new experience was starting since that time.As it is still a beta version and Ubuntu is still quite new, there always shows some crashes while I’m doing some normal work.Furthermore,it looks like too complicated.I think it will be a gap to avoid people to try it.

If you want to know more about this new stuff, you can go to its official website or wiki.By the way,the final version of Ubuntu 8.04 will be released in 14 days.I hope at that time more bugs can be ‘killed”.

Mozilla FireFox 3 beta1 testing

Like other old users of PC,testing for new stuff is a nice thing.FireFox 3 beta1 was released on past several days and these days I try to use it to test its enhanced performance.

FireFox

Upon my testing,I feel that this version of FireFox is more efficient on loading pages than others(including Maxthon),and better on loading pictures too.But since it is a beta version so that some of bugs still exist.According to the official release guide,it will be another beta appeared at the end of December and one more beta  on next quarter. After that the final version of FireFox 3 can be shown in front of us.I hope that the traditional problems of FireFox(high occupancy on CPU and RAM,compatibility on displaying websites etc) can be improved or solved.

My conclusion is it is worth testing it.
