Chrome 23

Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers in the world and it keeps improving its performance while enhancing the user experience.

Google just released the latest stable version-Chrome 23.In this version, there are 3 major changes:

  • GPU-accelerated video decoding for Chrome on Windows

Dedicated GPU could save more power compared with CPU when watching online videos such as Youtube. As the test done by Google,it could save up to 20% battery hours. It’s enabled by default.

  • Easier to view and control any websites’ permission

Just a simple click on the page/lock icon next the the website address in the omnibox and you can view all the permissions and change them as you wish.

  • Do Not Track

As people might have more concerns on privacy nowadays,Google starts to support Do Not Track in the browser to minimize the explosion of location information. However,it’s disabled by default.

If you have never used Chrome, you could try it now. It’s working so great for me,I hope it will do so for you too.

Chrome 21

Chrome 21 has said goodbye to beta versions and getting stable. It turns some great features into the real life.

For the Retina display users, they now could get the better support from this latest stable version.

Moreover,a new API called getUserMedia is officially introduced. It enables to web apps to get grants to access webcam and microphone without any plug-ins.Yeah,no need to have flash player or something else. This API is the first step for WebRTC(real-time communication standard) which aims to allow high-quality video and audio communication on the web.

If you wanna try the new API,you could play Sketchbots in Chrome Web Lab there. It uses getUserMedia API to take a photo of your face, convert into some dots and lines to the robot in the Science Museum in London, and then the robot will make a sketch of your face by sands with a live show.Of course, you will have a video record too. It’s really interesting.

Gaga with Chrome

Well,it may not be so surprised as Lady Gaga had visited Google HQ weeks ago and now she makes a piece of commercial for Chrome. The video is still full of Gaga style, funky punky feelings all around.I bet Gaga fans will love it so much.

All right, after viewing it,Gaga fans wanna switch to Google Chrome or not?!

Frankly speaking,I’m on Chrome side.
