[Review]Seagate GoFlex Home 1TB

I always want to have an external hardisk which could help me save most of videos, musics and documents separately from my PCs.The one with Ethernet port would be my preference as it could be accessed through my intranet(LAN network) easily.Compared with a large group of similar products,Seagate GoFlex Home seems like pricing very fairly.Yesterday I bought one from Lowyat Plaza and here’s my review.

It’s actually mixed with 2 parts:1 Seagate GoFlex Desk hardisk and 1 network base. The hardisk is upgradable,so if you want to have more capacity, you could buy another piece of Seagate GoFlex Desk(currently up to 3TB) with larger capacity to replace the existing one.On the network base, there are one Gigabit Ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port.with limitation of my router which only has 4 100M Ethernet ports, both read and write speed are limited to 10.8 MB/s,closer to highest theoretical speed of 100Mbps Ethernet port. The USB 2.0 port could be adopted as a printer server or another option to add more capacity by connecting to another external hard disk.

Seagate Replica 500G portable hard drive

I’ve planned for getting a portable hard drive for years to back-up important files, pictures recording my memories, wonderful movies and nice songs.Furthermore,I wish the external hard disk could do things simple and smart so that I could restore my system whenever I need without any trouble.

Seagate finally makes this kind of products.Seagate Replica is a very new product which has a sharp outlook and a smart ‘mind’.It could automatically back-up the whole system when you connect it into PCs.I think it will be an impressive product for people lacking of time and knowledge to deal with it.

Let’s have a close look!

I bought it at Lowyat Plaza,Kuala Lumpur, costing me RM369(USD115).I think the 5-year warranty and the good reputation of Seagate is worth the price. How do you think?

I’m happily using it. :)
