Quick look at Google I/O 2011

I watched Google I/O live last night. In the event, quite a number of surprises brought in and of course,Android is the main role.

1.New music service.

Google now has the music service even though it’s just beta version currently and only available to US customers. It’s allowing users to upload up to 20,000 songs to the cloud, all will be automatically sync to Android devices that under the same Google account.

2.Movie rental service

Just a few clicks and you could start to enjoy hot films on the go.You could choose to live steaming the film or offline to watch it.Good, huh? If not mistaken,it’s also only for US customers currently.

3.Android 3.1 Honeycomb upgrade

The upgrade includes multiple changes and improvements such as resizeable widgets,USB host and accessory support etc.Verizon’s Motorola Xoom users will get the update immediately.

4.Android Open Accessory

USB accessory mode is added in Android 3.1 for tablets and Android 2.3.4 for mobiles. In this mode,Android device will act as a host to control other devices connecting by USB port.

5.Ice Cream Sandwich

This version of Android will be released in Q4 2011.It will be a cross-platform OS that applies both tablets and smartphones. This will ease the developers to create apps as for Ice Cream Sandwich, they only need to make apps compatible to one OS.I believe more apps at that time will land to Android Market.

6.Android@Home framework

Imaging that you can control all your home appliances by your Android phone?!Yes,Android@Home framework is working for that.Once you have all appliances with this framework, you could simply remote control them, for example, open lights and air-conditioner when you nearly reach home.Awesome!

You could take some time to watch what happened in Google I/O 2011 Day 1. Have a good day!
