Google Maps & Google Earth entering into a better 3D world

Google held a briefing for its map products yesterday showing the latest technology they have which is being integrated into the existing services:Google Maps and Google Earth.

In the briefing, the Googler Peter Birch showed the key points:very detailed and enhanced offline,3D maps.

Google says the improvements will be done in coming weeks and all could be run in Android and iOS(including iPad). However,he didn’t give out the details about which versions of Android/iOS devices could be fully supported. As recently a lot of rumors saying Apple will drop Google Maps in iOS 6,I believe the movement Google’s taking is to strike back Apple’s threat.

Take a preview of this new experience on Google Earth now:

With this enhanced 3D imagery,I think we could have a tour just in front of computers. What do you think?

Google Earth 5.0 beta

Google Earth Google Earth 5.0 beta is now running “out of the earth”.From now on,you could sit in front of your warm desk at home to observe the colourful sky or dive into the deep seas to discover a mysterious world.

Of course, this is not the only great thing. In this latest Google Earth, you will even be given some historical images when you’re exploring the current world. This new feature allows people to exactly know the changes around us no matter what are man-made or physical during the past couples of years.

I like to use Google Earth. It’s been a very helpful tool to draw up a detail route when I plan a trip abroad. But Google, could you update maps more frequently? As I could see,the map layer of my hometown is still like 3 years ago.How pity it is!
