Apple is laughing at Microsoft

Actually Apple always does it,especially in the advertisements. They have enough creativities to cut Microsoft into single pieces. It’s Apple’s style, killing people by words. The latest advertisement from Apple is going to kill Microsoft’s popular baby-Windows 7.

It counts all past broken promises from Microsoft and implies that Windows 7 will continue having those messy.I don’t know whether it is the truth because I haven’t used it.If you’re having Windows 7 now, what is your real experience?I don’t want to hear that it’s exactly the same as the ad expresses.

Windows 7 is everywhere

Microsoft officially introduces Windows 7 in every country at the same time.It seems that Microsoft pays a lot of spirits on Windows 7 and has its great hope on this new member of Windows.I believe there should be some promotional events in the recent days to sell Windows 7 at a special price. However, this kind of events always accompany with crowds that I will never like.

Windows 7

If you hate the crowds and don’t mind the price, you could try to get your piece of Windows 7 online because Microsoft online store is selling Windows 7 too. Both upgrade and full version are available there and also you are allowed to download it to USB/DVD or ask for a back-up disc with a bit more money, even asking for shipping to your door.

It is quite convenient, right? But I’m not satisfied with the current product line yet. Here are my issues:

  1. I personally have 2 computers. One installs Windows XP Professional and another installs Windows Vista Home Premium.According to what I know,I can only upgrade the operating system to the corresponding versions(ie. Windows Vista Home Premium only can be upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium). That means if I want to upgrade both systems,I can’t buy a family pack instead of two packs of Windows 7 as the family pack can be used on Home edition.I have to pay more.
  2. The family pack is only available on upgrade version,no full version available. That means if I want to install Windows 7 directly into 2 computers,I have to buy 2 pieces of Windows 7 full version.

I don’t know why Microsoft is not willing to send out sweeties to all potential customers.Windows 7 is attractive, but I don’t want to get it so soon.

Nokia Booklet 3G rolling out

Nokia Booklet 3G is a big star in today’s Nokia World 09.Microsoft is also promoting it because Nokia Booklet 3G will come out with Windows 7.

More details are shown to public on that event and I think most participants will like this product after they see the real one.

Nokia Booklet 3G I make some conclusions for the specifications.

  • Built in AGPS-available to use Windows Sensor and Location Platform, allowing your PC and programs to perform ‘location aware’ computing.
  • 3G/HSPA capabilities,providing excellent mobile connectivity
  • 12 hours of battery life making the possibility of all-day mobility
  • strong and robust machined aluminum chassis without any fan(quiet enough!)
  • glass covered for a crisp and clear view of the screen

Beside these,Nokia Booklet 3G includes a single HDMI port, 3 USB ports and a single headphone jack that doubles also for a microphone. From the official source,Nokia Booklet 3G will be available in some markets in the 4th quarter of this year. However, the price is still unknown. Finally, let’s get a closer look at this great product:

WAU and Family Pack

Microsoft currently is introducing Windows Anytime Upgrade(WAU) for Windows 7 to fit different needs from consumers over time.

Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium: $79.99

Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional: $89.99

Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate: $139.99

From October 22th,consumers could get Windows 7 retail packages which contains a upgrade key for WAU purpose.People who live in the 13 countries(Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK or the US) are able to upgrade from Windows online store while others may be only get that at a store near you.

Microsoft also announced that Windows 7 Home premium edition will have family pack which will provide 3 licenses at $149.99.That’s great! It means family users only need to buy that pack and let this advanced OS run on 3 PCs at home with a quite reasonable price.

I just wonder whether the price could be a bit cheaper in Asia. :)

Microsoft and Yahoo sit together

The breaking news from today’s IT industry is Microsoft signed an agreement with Yahoo! in order to get the core of Yahoo! search engine technology for 10 years.

Bing

The co-operation may make ‘Bing’-the latest search engine from Microsoft grow much faster and be strong enough to compete with Google which has led the particular industry for years. So we all know that there’s a long way to go.

Let’s wait and see if this move is really smart.
