Nokia N78 Software Update

Nokia N78 has got a new software update.The software version is 20.149 and the custom version for my mobile phone is 20.149.051.1(Malaysia).

The update is very simple to be processed:

  • Type *#0000# and you will enter Device manager.
  • Go to Option and then click Check for updates.
  • Download the update(~1.5MB) you find and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

I haven’t found there’s any official release note for this new update yet.But through my test,I find the mobile phone runs more smooth and faster.I will write the details here when I find the useful information for this update.

P.S:The update may cause some installed applications and information(contacts,messages etc.) unavailable to be used.Thus,I recommend you to make a backup first and then only update your mobile phone.

N-Gage is available in Nokia N78

Nokia launched a new version of N-Gage software which is compatible in Nokia N78.That means from now on N78 users can share all the gaming resources from N-Gage platform and play with your friends in a wireless way.

A given information from its official website shows there may still have some instabilities since it has been done by a complete test.

N-Gage logo However,I had successfully installed N-Gage in my N78 which is modelled as RM235 with firmware 12.046.The installation process is very simple(just like other installations).Once finishing,going to register a dedicated account for yourself and then you can start your trip there.related info for N-Gage

It provides some trials of games and if you want to get a full license of it,you need to pay for RM20-30(approx. US$6-8)/game.It is quite expensive compared to download the games from other sources(RM5-8/game),but I think the price will fall after more games being available there.

Something is better than nothing,right?Thus if you have a N78 in hand,try it and maybe you’ll like it. :)

My experience on Nokia N78(1)

I had used Nokia N78 for 3 weeks and tried almost all main functions.I think this mobile phone is the best one among all others which I used before.

I use the built-in GPS for several times.The overall performance is quite ok as it can always bring me to the destination.However,the signal receiving capacity is not so strong.Hence,in some environment(indoor/cloudy days/in cars with sun control films/tunnels,etc.),it is hard to catch the satellites.Therefore if you are highly depending on GPS,I recommend you to buy a standalone professional GPS system to navigate your way.

Though the 3.2 mega pixel camera is not a bright spot,it works quite well when shooting under the daylight.At night,the quality of pitures are worse,with a lot of ‘noises’.I think this is a popular problem on those built-in cameras,but it’s a little below my estimate.

Since this mobile phone equips two speakers in both sides,the volume is really acceptable.And it can perform a nice stereo effect too.Sometimes when playing some kind of musics with maximum volume,you may hear some distortions.Whereas you make some adjustments in equalizer,the blemish can be removed.

Nokia N78-My birthday gift(1)

My Nokia N78  

Nokia N78 is my dream phone and finally I got it yesterday-my girlfriend bought it to me as my birthday gift.Well,I really love it.Thanks my darling and my friends.

There are a lot of new functions such as GPS,FM transmit and Built-in WIFi etc.Hence I think I will take some time to know more about the new phone.

This phone is my 5th mobile phone till now.Because I trust the product quality of Nokia,Nokia has been my preference.The old one is Nokia N70 which had used for 2 years.It still works well(only the battery is not so good).However it should be ‘retired’ and the new one is ready to serve me. :)

Another new phone which is fit all my requirement.Nokia N78 is a 3.5G smart phone capable with WIFI fuction and integrated GPS.The other spots of this phone are its camara-320 megapixel Carl Zeiss optics lense and its surrounding speaker bringring a wonderful experience on musics.

One cool fuction is needed to know:FM Transmitter that may enable you play your music by FM frequency sharing with your friends.Price is still unknown,but it should be listed soon.I don’t think it can offer at a price which is lower than N82.Therefore to make savings is my priority in order to buy those all new stuff.

Money is always lacking.
