If you think that stuff in PC fair surely is cheap, you are wrong.
Yan and I went to PC fair on last Friday and she was looking for an All-in-one printer. We just walked around there to collect the price info first. After all,we thought Canon Pixma MP145 fits the requirements and it was only selling at RM199,however,without any gift.We thought it was cheap.
But later when I checked the price in Lowyat Plaza,I recognized what I thought was totally wrong. It was only tagged at RM175.Yes,it was a 14% difference.
Thus, please don’t think you could always get the cheaper goods in PC fair.In face,if you want to save some money, you still have to do a comparison on price before you buy something.
I went there yesterday.Because yesterday was Friday and still a working day, there was not crowded at all.In fact, after walking around for an hour,I found this PIKOM PC fair was not so great as previous ones.Well,it’s the effect of economical recession perhaps.
The most hot hall was promoting broadband service. As I mentioned in the last post that P1 Wimax just launched their tiny portable device-WIGGY yesterday, they did the promotional event magnificently and pushed other ISPs joining the battle.I felt that I was really in a forest.Actually those promoters insect in every corner and I hope you could escape from their hunting.
I met Mr. Yap in that hall who is the general manager of SyQic Capital, which works out Hypp.TV together with TM.He told me that he is doing his best to improve the quality of contents and is arranging to increase the numbers of channels from 30 to 50 by the end of this year.I appreciate to get his mid-long term plan and I think Hypp.TV could be an alternative option to Astro too if keeping on the track.
Mr. Yap also told me that the current monthly fee is RM9.90 without contract.People can try the service first for one month and then decide to renew it or reject it.More flexible packages will be on the market soon and at that time,Hypp.TV will be more productive and attractive.I’m willing to see the development.
WIGGY is released. It dresses up a cool and sharp design and shows with a nice promotion currently.
In the running and upcoming PC fair,P1 Wimax will sell the device with the following plan.
Do you mention that it provides up to 10Mbps for downlink?I think this is the fastest wireless broadband service in Malaysia currently and pays only RM149 per month.However,P1 Wimax still sets bandwidth limits for this package at 10GB monthly and frankly speaking,it burns my idea to try it.
My conclusion is this plan is for those young guys who may like surfing Internet all the time, but slightly downloading.
Anyway,I like to see those new stuff coming as more competitions between service providers will bring more benefits to consumers.
PS:I just came back from PIKOM PC fair in KL Convention Center and I saw the official launch and promotion there.I get some official source telling me that WIGGY,the modem itself is said to be capable of 20Mbps for downlink, but normally it could run at 5Mbps on average and once if you reach that 10GB cap, your speed will be locked at 400kbps (down) and 150kbps (up) respectively.
A bad story I had is one showgirl of P1 Wimax introduced this new product to me and said to me that Wimax never has any long latency issues as other wireless broadband such as HSPA and upon reaching the limits of 10GB,the speed would only be slightly moved to 4.8Mbps(down).I didn’t record her name and didn’t want to blame her either. However,we know that is a kind of misleading and hard sell.P1 Wimax, you have to train your employees to know all basic knowledge of your product.Otherwise, your brand will lose trust from consumers.
The last PC fair in the year in Malaysia is coming the town.In this weekend,it will be held in KL Convention Centre.

Guys, don’t forget to share your experience on PC fair.Let’s go for grabbing!
Previously I was using a Targus speaker which I got it when I bought my laptop. It has been used for 3 years and today its life was ended.Luckily PC fair is just starting from today,it is a chance to get a promotional price.
Just now I went to KLCC where the PC fair takes place. Many people were going there to have a look and shot for some nice price items.I directly walked to the hall that displays all kinds of speakers. For me to choose a speaker, brand is important.Yeah, those popular brands always bring their credits and quality to consumers. And secondly,as we all know, the function of speaker is to produce sounds and spread them out with less noises. So using my ears to listen to each speaker in order to access their performances.
Finally I chose SonicGear EVO5PRO and paid in cash of RM129.It’s in my budget and fit my requirement.I will take some time to adjust Treble and Bass to get better sound effect.
Today is a very busy day because a group of friends and I walked at Pavilion and KLCC for almost the whole day.We ate sushi and sashimi at Ichiban Boshi again.I felt that foods there were much fresher than what we ate last time. We ordered bulks of dishes as we all were very hungry.
Since Vivian and I went to PC fair at KLCC in the late morning,Vivian wanted to buy a laptop and a digital camera.Yes,we finally finished our mission before lunch time which has been over 3 pm.Sorry to every body who was waiting for us for hours. Girls bought a lot of shirts as now it is during YES(year end sales) which there are a lot of promotions.
If ranking by the gains of today,Vivian will be the first. She is surely so happy that she has got her brand new Toshiba laptop and Panasonic Lumix FX 33 digital camera, whilst she bought some clothes too.Of course her wallet is really being hurted.I think she certainly will spend some time on blogging of her great New Year gifts which are from her own. ;p
Tired…Tomorrow I have to stay at home for my exams…
