Edifier HCS2330 speaker

I just bought a new set of speakers to replace the dead pair. The new one is from Edifier and frankly speaking, since my budget is limited(around RM300),the choice is limited too. After spending almost half an hour on testing the performance,I chose HCS2330.

The sub-woofer is quite huge(6.5 inch) and so it sounds really deep. When I play some hot musics,I even feel the whole building is shaking. The weak point is the mid-range of sound is a bit thin and  that causes less clarity of men’s voice, especially while watching movies.

Well,I have to say that the performance could definitely match the price I pay. It’s one of the best in RM300-RM350 range(US$110+-).

Thumb up!

Sonic Gear Tatoo 515 speaker review

Most laptop speakers are working quite lousy except your laptop is quite high end so that the speakers are designed by some audio experts such as Altec Lansing.Well,my laptop is not so lucky and today I just shopped one to let me have a bit better audio experience-the model is Sonic Gear Tatoo 515.

It’s a low end product with a quite low price, selling at only RM69(US$23) in Thunder Match. It’s a 2.1 channel audio system with 2*4W small speakers and 1*8W little sub-woofer.The overall design is really simple and clear, but I really care the sound quality,at least it should worth the price.

I tested to play some 1080P HD trailers from Youtube as well as a few classical musics and I feel that the speakers could play voices quite clear, but treble is a bit thin and bass is not deep enough. However, considering that is such a mini system,it’s quite fair.So I still think it’s a good choice if you are not a HiFi user.Of course,no one will think that products locating in this range could be outstanding.Cheers!

You had a good speaker, but is that enough?

As you know,I bought a new speaker because my old one has been spoiled. Therefore before I bought it,I did a lot of studies on relevant knowledge. And the result told me that if you are an audiophile, you need to have both a high-end speaker and a suitable sound card to equip your computer.

The late experience gave me more than those texts. The thing is that one of my friends just got a set of speakers with THX certified, but he was using on board HD sound card only. He’s a real audiophile and asked me for my recommendation on a sound card.Well,I’m in the entry level too,so I thought I’d better to do some tests in a real place, using my ears.

I visited a shop which has expertise on those sound cards. The boss there is a kind man and allowed me to make comparisons between on board sound card and external sound card, one more on different levels of external sound cards, with packing the same speakers.Yeah,I’m sure that I have very sensitive ears and I clearly classified the differences on dissimilar pairs.

With external sound cards, the sound produces out is much clearer,or can be said as crystal. The bass is not just a bass, but powerful with actual feeling-not being dispersed. And those high-end sound cards can perform some extreme effects like Dolby Surround. It makes you drop into a theatre. It’s pretty amazing!

So if you have money and you want to get a better sound while playing music, you’d better to put your money down buying perfect speakers. Then if you want to go further,an external sound card will be your second aim.

Well,I think I have one more item that I wanna get then.

Get a new speaker

Previously I was using a Targus speaker which I got it when I bought my laptop. It has been used for 3 years and today its life was ended.Luckily PC fair is just starting from today,it is a chance to get a promotional price.

Just now I went to KLCC where the PC fair takes place. Many people were going there to have a look and shot for some nice price items.I directly walked to the hall that displays all kinds of speakers. For me to choose a speaker, brand is important.Yeah, those popular brands always bring their credits and quality to consumers. And secondly,as we all know, the function of speaker is to produce sounds and spread them out with less noises. So using my ears to listen to each speaker in order to access their performances.

Finally I chose SonicGear EVO5PRO and paid in cash of RM129.It’s in my budget and fit my requirement.I will take some time to adjust Treble and Bass to get better sound effect.
